Brews & Beats with Coffee Potluck

Coffee Potluck took Vancouver by storm again earlier this December with a two-night pop-up: Brews & Beats. A curated experience featuring coffee-inspired cocktails and local culinary talent, all tied together with beats mixed live by DJs.

Five intentional cocktails included classics like a hot Irish Coffee topped with cold vanilla cream, a vodka sour using a coffee infused, milk washed vodka, and even an alcoholic punch using cascara, the elusive dried coffee fruit, usually discarded during processing at coffee origin. The drinks set the stage for elevated French pastries on the first night from Chams Sbouaï of Sweetboy Creampuffs, while the second evening saw Mark Singson, formerly of AnnaLena, dazzle imbibers with a focused collection of canapés.

Coffee Potluck, a community project, is built around establishing cross sectional spaces where industry and consumer can gather, experience taste discovery surrounding coffee, and work together towards furthering the boundaries of the industry. This event featured collaboration across multiple fields, highlighting local brands like Bittered Sling Bitters, Odd Society Distillery, and Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company. Brews & Beats brought people together, set the stage for new and exciting coffee experiences, and left audiences wanting an encore. - Kris Wu (@k7wu)
