Inside Fresh Press Coffee Bar

Located across the street from Lansdowne Mall in Richmond, the mother-daughter team behind Fresh Press Coffee Bar have converted their 443 square feet space that last served as a convenience store into a small cafe. They are also passionate with their new venture to support local businesses and organizations with worthy causes.

Fresh Press went with Gastown's East Van Roasters to supply them with fair trade coffee along with a selection of their bean-to-bar chocolates that are available to purchase. Espresso drinks get prepared on a La Marzocco Linea Classic and they also serve Chemex pour-over brewed coffee.

The cafe gets their tea from Vancouver's JusTea which as a non-profit that works hand in hand with Kenyan tea producers with training and support to produce their own artisanal quality teas. Kenya remains one of the largest tea producers in the world, but they hope to give the farmers more return on their crops by hand-processing their own tea. They offer a selection of black, oolong and African chai whole leaf teas.

(Note: Due to health code regulations, Fresh Press isn't able to serve using ceramic cups due to the lack of a commercial dishwasher. But feel free to bring your own travel mug/cup if you prefer.)

Fresh Press also brings in a selection of baked goods from Cadeaux Bakery in Gastown and they also serve lunch. With a few selected items brought in from Nirvana Foods which caters and produces dishes for local cafes and retailers from their newly opened commissary in Richmond.

The cafe opened at the end of March and while they are still working on a few finishing touches (including some patio seating for the summer) be sure to drop by and enjoy a good cup of coffee in the centre of Richmond.
