Soft Opening at Timbertrain Coffee Depot
The new Timbertrain Coffee Depot in Grandview-Woodland serves as their new roastery and training space while also having room for a coffee bar to serve the neighbourhood. With their old roastery located out in Langley and the logistics of running a cafe in Gastown it probably made for an easy decision to relocate.
Timbertrain also made the decision to bring in a new coffee roaster in their new space with the Loring Smart Roast S35 Kestrel. And on bar for the cafe they have the latest machine from Slayer Espresso with a three-group Slayer Steam which relies on a dry vapor for steaming milk. If you've ever been to Monogram Coffee in Calgary then you will probably recognize the ceramic mugs used for milk-based espresso drinks which were sourced from the same ceramic artist: Julia Schumacher from Canmore, Alberta.
The small cafe at the front of their space uses a two-tier bench sitting in front of floor to ceiling windows instead of the typical tables and chairs setup. The rest of the Depot is behind no doors or walls so you get up close with the coffee roaster along with another complete working coffee bar in the back that will be used to train their wholesale customers.
