Opening Week at Aubade Coffee

After spending stints working at cafes in Melbourne, Berlin and Vancouver; Eldric Kuzma has just wrapped up his first week on his new coffee project called Aubade Coffee.

Aubade Coffee is a new coffee bar inside Chinatown's Space Lab a vintage/antique store that is also home to Bootleg Barbers in the back of the space. Aubade comes from the word for a piece of music or poem to welcome the dawn which Eldric wanted to connect to the morning ritual of having a good cup of coffee.

Coffee will initially come from Victoria's Fernwood Coffee, but he's also sampling some beans from Edmonton's Transcend Coffee along with some coffee from Australia. You will find a straight forward filter coffee menu at Aubade with Bonavista pour overs and  batch filter using the Technivorm brewer made in the Netherlands. Another unique bit of gear behind the bar is the Versalab M3 grinder which uses a set of conical and flat burrs to grind the coffee beans.

If you want to learn more about coffee, look for Eldric to lead some coffee tastings and home brewing workshops to start in the near future.
